Acle
Acle in Norfolk, England, is a small market town between Norwich and Great Yarmouth on the River Bure in the Broads National Park. Acle, meaning an oak forest clearing, was a port in Roman times at the head of a huge estuary called Gariensis. It has a railway station on the Wherry Line between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. There are pleasant riverside walks to Upton, which has a community pub.
It has the only bridge, with nearby pub, across the River Bure between Great Yarmouth and Wroxham, the best route to get to the sandy beaches north of Great Yarmouth. Nearby Stokesby also has a riverside pub.
