About Pop Up Dining with Wild Lulita and Safari Tour

Step into a different kind of dining experience with a Pop-Up Dining evening with acclaimed chef Lucy Cheyney at Norfolk reserve, Watatunga Wildlife Reserve.

Set in the heart of the reserve, this special event begins with a guided tour, giving you the chance to explore the landscape and spot wildlife as the day winds down. As the sun lowers, you’ll settle in by the lake under our stretch tent canopy for an evening of relaxed, open-air dining.

This year, we’re excited to introduce a Thai BBQ-inspired menu, created by private chef Lucy Cheyney of Wild Lulita. Known for her thoughtful, flavour-led cooking, Lucy brings together fresh, locally sourced ingredients with vibrant Thai influences. Each dish is carefully put together to suit the setting, bold, seasonal and full of flavour.

You’ll enjoy three courses in a laid-back atmosphere, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the reserve as evening sets in. Binoculars will be on hand if you’d like to take in the wildlife around you, adding something a little different to the experience.

These evenings are a chance to slow down, share good food and spend time with friends or family in a setting you won’t find anywhere else.

What is the agenda for the Pop-up dining event?

Your agenda:

16:45 arrival to site anytime from 4:45pm, where we will be waiting with cool boxes for your refreshments - please note only water is provided, feel free to bring your own alcohol and soft drinks

17:00 tour departure, exclusive 60-minute tour with the reserve manager

18:00 arrival at the BBQ hut, where Lucy will be crafting your evening feast

21:00 arrival back at reception for evening departure

Will there be drinks available?

We recommend bringing your favourite bottle of wine or beverages to complement your meal. Only water & other soft drinks will be provided by Watatunga.

What food is on the menu?

This year, we will be having a Thai-style BBQ! Inspired by Lucy's annual trips to Bangkok, the menu will feature some of her favourites, including Crispy Pork Belly Bites with Satay Dipping Sauce and Smacked Chilli Cucumber Salad. The full menu is on our website. This is a set menu, so please check the food before booking.

This is a shared experience with limited spaces.

Who is Lucy Cheyney?

Lucy Cheyney is a Norfolk-based private chef, returning home after several years working internationally and developing her craft across France, London, Australia and Barcelona. Wild Lulita is her private catering company, where she designs vibrant, seasonal menus alongside indulgent yet thoughtful cakes and desserts.  She is drawn to bold flavours, seasonal ingredients and dishes that feel both refined and abundant. “My approach is simple: cook beautiful food that tastes exceptional and makes people happy.”
