Norwich shakes up the visual art world this summer with an exhilarating range of international artists from Louis Bourgeois and Marc Quinn to Mariano Pensotti and Matthew Darbyshire, in a celebration of contemporary art. Delivered for the first time by Norfolk & Norwich Festival, CAN09 (11 July to 31 August) features exhibitions, performances, residencies, commissions and site specific and large scale live art events. | | EDP Tourism in Norfolk Awards | Norfolk’s tourism businesses are invited to enter this year’s EDP Tourism in Norfolk Awards, which celebrate success stories and the highest standards across all tourism sectors.

The programme, filmed mainly in and around Swaffham, once again showcases the beauty of Norfolk. The six-part drama begins on Sunday 7 June and follows the fortunes of Stephen Fry’s character, Peter Kingdom, an affable country solicitor in the picturesque town of Market Shipborough (Swaffham).
In the new series, Peter is free from the havoc that his brother Simon provoked in the town and is looking forward to the future, but the locals have plenty of issues to keep him busy including the problems of crop circles, an Iraq war victim’s bid for compensation and an encounter with animal liberationists.

| | BBC Springwatch in Norfolk | Springwatch, the BBC TV programme celebrating UK wildlife and wildlife people returned to Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, Fakenham this May and June. The series was broadcast on BBC 2 for three weeks, and received a staggering 4 million viewers.
Although Springwatch is over, you can still find out more about the wildlife stars of the show at BBC Springwatch, and don't forget to visit the home of the show, Pensthorpe Nature Reserve. The River Wensum, which runs through the reserve, is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC), Europe’s highest nature conservation destination, and the reserve is a mecca for all kinds of wildlife.

| | Explore Broadland by bike and on foot | Get out and about and explore Broadland - grab your bike or walking shoes, and a copy of a new leaflet from Broadland District Council.
The 'Walking & Cycling in Broadland' leaflet includes routes such as the Marriott's Way, Bure Valley Path and the Weaver's Way. As well as information on long distance walks and cycle routes and getting around on public transport, it promotes 25 properties all of which have been awarded or are awaiting inspection for the Quality in Tourism Welcome Walkers or Welcome Cyclists schemes.

| | Holkham, North Norfolk Coast – Best Beach 2009 | Holkham Beach is Coast Magazine’s ‘best beach 2009’.
One of the magazine’s Coast Awards, the best beach category was voted for by readers who selected Holkham for its miles of dunes, windswept sands and maze of creeks and saltings.
The Coast Awards, launched last year, were established to recognise the people and places that represent all that is innovative, valuable and exciting around the British coastline.

| | Norfolk Broads Podcasts | Norfolk Tourism and the Broads Authority, have produced a new online audio experience introducing what The Broads has to offer visitors on holiday or local residents planning a day out. Eight podcasts, each on a different theme: birds, boating, walking, cycling, canoeing, sailing, Barton Broad and How Hill, can be downloaded via our Norfolk Broads page or the Broads Authority website.

| | Discover The Broads by Bike - Nine New Circular Rides | The Broads Bike Hire Association has produced a free booklet and accompanying leaflet, called The Broads by Bike, featuring nine circular routes along quiet country lanes in the Northern Broads area. Aimed at cyclists of all ages and abilities the rides range from 5.5 miles round Hickling to 22.5 miles featuring Stalham, Lessingham, Honing, Worstead and Dilham. There is also a 58-mile orbital route round the whole network.
The Broads by Bike booklet can be picked up at Broads Information Centres at How Hill, Hoveton, Potter Heigham and Ranworth Staithe. Each route can also be downloaded from www.thebroadsbybike.org.uk.

| | Norfolk's Rural Pages! | Norfolk’s countryside is sprinkled with pretty little villages, each with their own individual character.
